23rd  – 30th March    Tromso - 200 miles North of the Arctic Circle

The month of January was fully booked up and amongst other things we saw 6 people make commitments to Christ.  Halleluia.
New “Lifestyle Course”  C.D. and Songbook
Last year we were so busy we had no time to be able to record our new songs or  to gather our thoughts together for a new course we want to write.  Consequently, though we are waiting for confirmation of dates from some churches in England, we  have set aside time to be at home to work on a New C.D. and write a “Lifestyle Course”.

We also need time to reflect, pray and listen to God.     “Be still and know that I am God”. (Psalm 46:10)  Being still is not something we’re always very good at,  but this year we are committed to make this happen.

For the past few years we’ve been teaching about friendship evangelism in churches at home and abroad.  Though this has been very successful we believe God has given us inspiration for an exciting new course designed to inspire the church and challenge us all to a deeper passion and commitment to Jesus Christ.

This is very labour intensive and requires much study, prayer and time to write and produce.  The Lord has provided us with space in the calendar to complete this project.

Would you consider helping financially so that we can focus on this exciting new venture plus a new C.D. and songbook.

The Tromso Baptist church is the most northerly Baptist church in the world.
The sun doesn’t rise above the horizon for 3 months of the year.
We have received reports that a large percentage of the young people are depressed. There is nothing to do, so many are turning to drink and drugs.

Part of the aim is for us to encourage the younger Christians and go into the nightclubs to get alongside those who have not yet come to faith.

We will be encouraging the church.  Preaching, teaching, leading worship, evangelistic concert.

A scripture was given to Jan in a dream just recently……Zechariah 6:8  Then he called to me.  “Look those going toward the north country have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north.”
It is our belief that the Lord is preparing the way before we even arrive and that He, seeing the bigger picture, will pour out His Sprit as we faithfully minister in the North.
We have never been to the Arctic before and once again find ourselves stepping into the unknown but after receiving this scripture we are very excited and can’t wait to see what God is going to do.

[Returning to Kosova and Macedonia.    Dates to be confirmed.

21st July – 17th Aug    Uganda – Africa.

We will continue where we left off last August, working in the churches just outside Kampala.
Working with the children in the Stephen Jota Centre.
Teaching about worship and working with the many musicians, singers, worship leaders and dancers who are in worship teams.
A big outdoor stage is going to be built for us to lead evangelistic concerts over several nights, where they are expecting thousands of people to attend.

End Sept – mid December     U.S.A.   South Carolina and Indiana

Continuing our ministry in many churches.
Evangelism, Preaching, Worship teaching, Leading Worship, Singing.

The year has begun already with the Lord’s favour working over the past 2 weeks in local churches in England.? Dartford area 17th – 18th and Northampton area Sunday 25th.? 6 people have given their lives to Jesus as we ministered and led the worship.? We feel such a sense of expectation for the coming year ahead.? With opportunities to work abroad in Norway (March), Uganda (21st July-17th August), Romania (May), North America (October-December).? By faith we have committed ourselves to these dates and we would like to ask for your prayerful support for 2009.

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
?Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?? (Isaiah 58:6-7)

Prayer needs….
Finances to pay the bills while working among the poor abroad.? Ideally, we need 100 people to support us either ?5 or ?10 per month so that we can be good stewards of the Lord’s provision and plan properly over the coming year.? We do not want to miss a single God given opportunity to serve the poor and the lost.? We also want to be able to supply for the needs of others as we meet situations that require immediate help.? We often find families that have non or little food or clothing or even a simple toy for the children.? It would be so good to know we can bless them in Jesus name and tell them God has provided!

alt

Good Health, Godly wisdom and continued anointing as we minister in such a variety of situations.

We still need ?1,000 for a multimedia laptop so that we can record new songs while on the road, edit videos and post them online for people to be able to see what we’re actually doing.? Maybe you have a spare laptop that you would like to donate to the ministry for this purpose?

Thank you for your love, prayers and support so that together we can go and bless others less fortunate than ourselves.? Isaiah 58

Be blessed
Steve & Jan

THE MEANING OF SACRIFICE - Zambia

A pastor went to speak at a church in one of the rural areas of Zambia. One church member there was interested in joining a church planting team in an unreached area along Lake Tanganyika. Learning that the church's normal offering amounted to just twelve rand (USD 2), the pastor thought there was no way he could ask them to support this person. However, he felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to share with the elders that this young man wanted to join the team and to ask if the church would send him. The cost would be around 5,000 rand (USD 700).
After praying the elders came back to say they would take up the challenge to find the 5,000 rand for his transport and initial support within one month. Somehow by the time a month had passed they came up with the full sum. The pastor later discovered that everyone in the church with more than two pairs of trousers or shirts had brought their extras to the church to be sold. However, after selling their clothes they still had quite a shortfall. They then agreed to fast one meal a day for the next few weeks and brought the money they would have spent on their staple maize meal to the church. God honoured their faith and commitment as well as their sacrificial giving and they miraculously reached their target.

Happy New Year to all.

Last year really was the most amazing of our ministry to date.

We witnessed the power of God touching lives, melting hearts and unquenchable tears began to flow  as we sang and spoke to many thousands of people in 6 countries on 4 continents.

This year holds the potential for even greater miracles as we have been invited to Japan and 250 miles above the Arctic circle!  That’s right we didn’t realize anything other than polar bears even lived there.  But there is a town of 50,000 people working the oil fields who struggle during the 3 long dark winter months when the sun never gets above the horizon.  The younger people in particular suffer depression and get caught up in drugs, bars, sex  and alcohol and life is not very fulfilling for them.  We may know as believers that Jesus is the only real answer but it is important that people like us go and explain this to them.  We have been invited but as usual we need the money to make it happen.  Would you consider, prayerfully, helping in this way so that we can visit the bars and clubs, put on outreach events and spend time interacting with these needy people?

We also want to return to Uganda where our work there has only just begun.  There is much opportunity to sing and speak to many thousands of people at a time.  Several pastors have asked us to return asap to carry out this work in conjunction with their churches in and around Kampala.  The poverty in indescribable, yet the love of God is drawing many onto the fringes of the churches and we would like to help ‘Reap the Harvest’ that is ripening now!!!

Even though the churches are poor they want to build and enormous outdoor stage with lighting and effects to draw the people at night so that we can minister to them in there thousands with songs, testimonies and the gospel message!!!  What an opportunity for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as we step out in faith to these people living in or near the slums of Kampala.

Again, please consider helping us through prayer and much needed finances that we can together touch their lives and change them for eternity.

Thank you again Happy New Year.
