A word from the USA
(Phil 4:11-13 ) "I have learnt to be content......whether in plenty or in need."
On our recent trip to Uganda, which is still having a profound effect on us, 2 words seem to sum up our feelings.
WORSHIP & POVERTY!
Poverty , abject poverty. It is hard to find words adequate enough to describe just how poor most of these people are. Tiny 2 room homes, no electricity or running water. No fridge, freezer or washing machine. No oven or stove to cook on. Worship , true worship.
The Christians we met have such a depth of love for God which we have rarely found in western Christianity. A faith that genuinely believes God will provide for their everyday needs. Let's face it, unless He does life would be more than impossible. At each service we saw queues of believers waiting in line to give testimony of how God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, had provided for them just that week!
As we live and minister here in Indiana the message we bring is one of hope and trust in a Mighty God who not only loves us but provides all that we need. With a world in financial recession it is important that we believe, know and live out our faith. There is no recession in God's economy. His promise is to supply for all our needs every day. Let's stand with our brothers and sisters around the world and seek to give them a better life rather than hang on to what we claim is ours. After all, what we have is given by the Lord so that we can encourage and support those who have less or nothing.
A Prayer of faith:- "Heavenly Father, I ask you to set us free from a self sufficient attitude. Help me to trust You for all my needs. Lord, I cry out to You to supply abundantly for those in poorer countries who are daily dependent on Your provision. Thank you, that You are the God of the impossible. May we all be a testimony to Your love, mercy, grace and provision. In Jesus name, AMEN"
